  • Muscle relaxant for breastfeeding

    I have a 17 month old that I still nurse 3-5 times a day.

I am having a neck issue (something pinched/out of line, that I am seeing my chiropractor for), and she recommended taking a muscle relaxant. I will see my doctor today, but was hoping someone might have a recommendation for one that would be safe to take while nursing? Hoping to get in and out of the doctors appointment asap, so I can get back to resting.

There has recently been a few case studies that have shown low transfer of Flexeril into breast milk, only 0.46-0.54% of your dose. We think low dose and short term use of this medication would be ok as long as your infant is not symptomatic. Monitor for drowsiness/sedation, dry mouth, poor feeding, vomiting.
