Is Omnicef safev while breastfeeding? I have been prescribed Omnicef for a UTI. My newborn is 10 days old. Should I dump my breast milk and supplement?

    Click, thanks for posting,

Omnicef (cefdinir) is rated L1-Limited Data-Compatible. Following administration of a 600 mg oral dose, no cefdinir was detected in human milk. As with other third generation cephalosporins, the use of this medication seems to be compatible with breastfeeding. Milk levels virtually undetectable. Observe for diarrhea, vomiting and rash.

I hope this helps. If you have any other questions please call the InfantRisk Center at 806-352-2519. Thanks,

    Sandra Lovato R.N.
