  • Azithromycin and Lymes?

Hello, I might have Lymes (though the doctor wasn't sure). I was prescribed Z pack- is it safe to start on this as a precaution, or is it better to wait until it seems like it is definitely Lymes? Seems like waiting on Lymes is a bad idea and you need to try to catch it early or there can be bad complications...

    Azithromycin and Lymes

    Dear noasmom,
Azithromycin is probably safe to use while breastfeeding. However, you need to speak to your doctor regarding the treatment of choice for Lyme disease. If this is Lyme disease and the doctor puts you on a different antibiotic you can always call us at the InfantRisk Center (806)352-2519 and we can give you the information we have on that particular drug. I hope this is helpful.
