  • Phocodine Cough Syrup

    Hi

Please help. I haven't slept in quite a few nights because I have an irritating dry post nasal drip cough. Am exhausted. Am breastfeeding a 3 and a half year old infant.

Can I take 5 ml Pholtex Forte cough syrup - its only ingredient is Pholcodine 15 mg. And still safe to breastfeed?

Or is there a safer option? I also have at home Benylin with Codeine cough syrup - ingredients Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride 12.5 mg and
    codeine phosphate 10 mg
    and Ammonium chloride 125 mg.

    Thanks so much.

      Nikita Munro,

Dr Hale's response : "Pholcodeine is a weak antitussive. In a three year old is not a problem. Weak opioid like dextromethorphan"
