  • daytrana 30 mg patch

Hello! I am a LLL Leader and I have a mom with a 6 month old baby. She was recently put back on medication for ADHD. She nurses her daughter before putting on the patch, pumps and dumps while at work and wearing the patch, and then removes the patch around 4-5pm and doesn't start nursing again until 7pm. She also night nurses. Her psychiatrist has recommended night weaning, but night nursing is really important to both her and her daughter. Do you think night weaning is necessary? The baby has not shown any changes in sleep or eating patterns since she started using the patch during the day. Any input is appreciated. TIA!

    Dear Ckthom,

Daytana is a Methylphenidate patch. I discussed your question with Dr. Hale, he thinks mum could probably breastfeed, she will need to watch her infant closely for any symptoms of excitement or anorexia.
