    Glycolic acid peel

    Hi

Is it safe to have a glycolic acid facial peel once per month whilst still breastfeeding a 3 year old infant? Or are there risks involved?

    Thank you.

    Nikita Munro,

"Lactic acid and glycolic acid:These medications help peel away extra skin and reduce skin darkening after acne resolves. Both substances can be up to 50% absorbed through the skin. However, they are both normal byproducts of cellular metabolism that are naturally present in significant quantities in the fetus and neonate." (InfantRisk.com, Dr Thomas Hale PhD). You can nurse after receiving a facial peel with glycolic acid.
