  • Ivf short protocol

Hello I planning n starting a new ivf cycle but I am still breastfeeding my almost 23 month old only twice a day to fal asleep for her nap and at night just before sleeping. In my previous ivf cycles (whilst trying to concive my daughter so ot breastfeeding) i did short protocols using the following drugs:

    Gonapeptyl
Menopur ranging between 4 and 6 vials
    Progesterone injections and suppositories

Would you consider it safe to undergo an IVF cycle whilst taking these drugs or would you recommend weaning completely before starting? I don't mind my milk drying up as this would help speed up the weaning process a little.

    Thanks and regards.

    Dear Chiara80,

Gonapeptyl and Menopur are large molecular weight hormones and unlikely to enter breastmilk in clinically relevant amounts. Progesterone is a naturally occurring hormone and has the potential to decrease milk production in some women. Since your child is older and not dependent on breastmilk for all of her nutrition, her risk is minimal to none.
